The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) said Wednesday more than 3 million workers were displaced when a total of 116,471 establishments implemented flexible work arrangements (FWA) and temporary closure (TC) from March to September 6 this year.
The latest job displacement monitoring report of DoLE said majority of the 3,266,891 workers or 2,039,662 were affected by the temporary closure of 85,438 establishments.
The establishments that implemented FWAs totaling to 32,929, on the other hand, affected 1,357,619 workers.
To note, some establishments implemented FWAs and TC due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
Data from the labor department also showed that 225,643 workers in the private sector from 13,127 establishments have been displaced from January to present.
The DoLE said more than 11,000 of the 13,127 establishments reduced workforce affecting 203,732 workers.
The 1,331 firms that reported permanent closure displaced a total of 21,911 workers.
The data also revealed that the National Capital Region registered the most number of displaced workers in the country with 116,089, followed by CALABARZON with 38,507, and Central Luzon with 23,824.
The number of displaced workers in other areas are: Central Visayas with 17,935; Cordillera Administrative Region with 5,519; Western Visayas with 4,188; Davao Region with 4,033; Northern Mindanao with 3,717; Ilocos Region with 2,896; Soccsksargen with 2,187; Cagayan Valley with 1,659; Eastern Visayas with 1,514; Bicol Region with 1,302; Caraga with 1,181; MIMAROPA with 881; and Zamboanga Peninsula with 211.
Most of the displaced workers were from administrative and support service with 47,303 and the manufacturing sector with 31,435.
