Nine out of ten Filipinos have experienced stress from the COVID-19 crisis, a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey has found out.
The SWS said that the National Mobile Phone Survey it conducted from Sept. 17 to 20 among 1,249 adult Filipinos nationwide aged 18-years-old and above revealed that 86 percent have been stressed by the COVID-19 crisis.
The SWS said 58 percent experienced great stress and 27 percent experienced much stress.
“Only 15 percent (correctly rounded) felt little or no stress because of it,” the SWS said.
Compared to the survey conducted back in July, the SWS said “those with great stress rose from 51 percent, while those with much stress fell from 35 percent.”
“On the other hand, those who felt little or no stress from the COVID-19 crisis hardly changed from 14 percent,” it added.
The group said that the survey was “a probability-based survey conducted using mobile phone and computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI).”
The SWS said 309 Filipinos in Metro Manila, 328 in Balance Luzon, 300 in the Visayas, and 312 in Mindanao participated in the survey.
It noted that that sampling error margin is at ±3 percent for national percentages, ±6 percent for Metro Manila, ±5 percent for Balance Luzon, ±6 percent for the Visayas, and ±6 percent for Mindanao.
The SWS said the area estimates were weighted by the Philippine Statistics Authority medium-population projections for 2020 to obtain the national estimates.
The group assured that the survey items reported were non-commissioned and done on its own initiative and released as a public service.
