It’s taken some time, but Martin Nievera is back home.
The iconic singer, known for his numerous hits, most of which are now karaoke staples, is back with his original record label, Vicor Music.
The company recently rolled the red carpet for Nievera, welcoming him back, excitedly announcing their many plans for him via a virtual press conference, including having ace songwriter Vehnee Saturno, who wrote “Be My Lady,” write new songs for him.
Nievera is more than happy.
“I’m beyond delighted,” he said, going on to explain, “I share music history with Vicor. It was my home for so many years, starting when I was just 19 and we created so many memorable songs. I’m excited to be back with them. I’m excited to see what we could create.”
Nievera originally signed with the label back in 1982, releasing his debut album dubbed “Take 1” a year later, marking his entry to the music scene with the huge smash, “Be My Lady.”
Note “Take 1″ also included “Pain,” the Grand Prize winner at the 6th Metro Manila Popular Music Festival.
Martin would release a total of six albums with Vicor including 1984’s “The Gift,” which contained the well-loved gem, “Each Day With You;” 1985’s “Martin,” which included fan favorites “Please Don’t Throw My Love Away,” “You Are To Me,” “On The Right Track” and “Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin;” 1987’s “Miracle;” 1988’s “A Martin Nievera Christmas;” and 1989’s “Dream.”
According to Vicor Music executives, they are looking to make more hits with Nievera.
Viva main man ‘Boss Vic’ Del Rosario, who established Vicor Music said, “Martin’s return with Vicor coincides with our plans to revitalize the label.”
“Vicor has a long and storied history. But that doesn’t mean that it will remain in the past. We are now looking to the future of OPM and we will create more hits. We’ve done it before, we can do it again,” he added.
While the country is still reeling from the pandemic, Martin and Vicor are mapping out plans to get new music out as soon as possible.
Nievera is raring to start.
“Let’s do it, let’s do it,” he intoned, sounding very much invigorated.
