A HUNDRED PLUS: Rain or shine, Covid-19 notwithstanding, the 4th Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) is pushing through as scheduled with over 100 films participating.
Liza Dino, chair of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), said this year’s PPP shall be held online for the first time.
It will run from October 31 to November 15 on the agency’s new FDCP Online Channel.
PPP4 features the following sections: Premium, Classics, PH Oscars Entries, Tributes, Romance, Youth and Family, Genre, Bahaghari, PPP Retro, Documentary, and From the Regions, Sine Kabataan, CineMarya.
Participating titles come from Cinemalaya, QCinema, Cinema One Originals, Sinag Maynila, CineFilipino, ToFarm, and MMFF.

SOLIDARITY FESTIVAL: Liza Dino says this year’s PPP is a solidarity event that aims to encourage support for Philippine Cinema in light of the devastating effects of Covid-19 pandemic.
All proceeds will be given to producers involved in the festival.

THE CLASSICS: Of curious interest to film buffs is the Classics section, featuring cinematic gems by National Artists for Film.
These include:

“Manila by Night” (Ishmael Bernal)
“Balikbayan #1: Memories of Overdevelopment Redux VI” (Kidlat Tahimik)
