Fans will now be allowed to join the virtual crowd of the ongoing PBA Philippine Cup bubble starting Thursday, the league announced.
The PBA said that it will post registration links on a daily basis through its social media accounts in order for fans to be seen on the LED screens during the games at the Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Center.
Fans will be admitted on a first-come, first-serve basis, the PBA added.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said in Tuesday’s Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum that about 60 to 80 slots are available for fans per game.
The league has been testing the virtual crowd setup since the season restarted last Sunday, with only family members, past and present players, media members and officials being given access.
Having a virtual crowd was inspired by the recent NBA bubble which allows fans to be seen rooting for their teams at the comfort of their homes.
It seems that the LED screens have not encountered lags during the games through the help of Smart 5G.
