The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) has vowed to conduct an independent probe on the reported rape and slay of a six-year-old girl in Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City on October 15.
According to police reports, the six-year-old girl’s body was found by her mother in a vacant lot in Barangay Estefania around 10 p.m. on October 15.
The girl was reported missing in the evening after she failed to return home from a birthday party near her house.
The victim’s uncle said that the suspect, a 24-year-old construction worker, probably followed his niece on her way home and committed the crime because he was drunk.
When the suspect was brought to the police station, he confessed to sexually molesting and strangulating the victim. (Czarina Nicole Ong Ki)
