A 4.5-magnitude earthquake jolted Batangas Thursday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
The quake was felt in nearby areas, including parts of Metro Manila.
Phivolcs traced the epicenter of the quake at 1:25 p.m. at eight kilometers west of Mabini, Batangas.
The quake had a depth of two kilometers. It was tectonic in origin which was caused by ground shaking primarily due to the sudden movement in the Earth’s plates.
The earthquake was felt at Intensity 4 in Calatagan, Batangas; Tagaytay City; Intensity 2 in Muntinlupa City, and Intensity 1 in Quezon City; Carmona and Bacoor City, Cavite; and Mauban, Quezon.
Phivolcs said there were no immediate reports of damage or injury from the tremor and aftershocks are not expected.
