TAYABAS CITY, Quezon – Two minors, who were swept away by strong water current while crossing a river Wednesday night, were found dead Thursday morning in Barangay Ilayang Bukal, here.
Police identified the victims as Irish Deraman, 13, and Derick Cervantes, 9.
Cervantes’ body was first found on Thursday morning and Deraman at noon. The two were swept away by the water current up to three kilometers, according to Police Major Romar Pacis, chief of Tayabas City Police.
The victims’ companions – Jayson Oñate, 8; Jaycee Oñate, 10, and Bea Berlin Nebrea, 10 – survived.
Tayabas City police said they were informed by barangay chief Veronica Laguartilla about the incident at 6:32 p.m. (Danny Estacio)
