BAGUIO CITY – A couple was arrested when they tried to enter this city with fake travel passes and other documents Thursday.
Baguio City Police Office director Police Col. Allen Rae Co said Paul Francis Mallari Ong, 42, and Sheryl Paque Ong, 39, residents of Mabalacat City, Pampanga, arrived on board their car and were flagged down at the quarantine checkpoint on Naguilian Road in Irisan at around 8:30 p.m. so that their travel documents could be checked.
However, they failed to present the original copies of their travel documents, prompting police to call the source of the documents for verification.
Police were able to contact the Mabalacat City Police Station which supposedly issued their travel pass. But they denied issuing the travel authority that the Ongs had.
The Jose Lingad Memorial General Hospital in Pampanga was also called and informed the Baguio police that, based on their records, their names were not registered as among those issued medical certificates.
Co said that when confronted by the duty officer about the documents they presented, the couple admitted that these were fake and forged.
The couple has been charged with falsification of public documents and violating Republic Act 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.”
