CAGAYAN – A two-year-old girl is the youngest person to die from COVID-19 in this province.
According to the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance United (PESU), the young victim, tagged as CV 2749, was from Purok 3, Baculud, Iguig. She was first monitored with a fever and had difficulty in breathing on Oct. 22.
However, her condition worsened as she suffered severe pneumonia and a heart ailment before being taken to the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) on Oct. 28.
Her swab sample was then taken but she died at 10 p.m. on Oct. 28.
The result of her swab test came back the next day, confirming that she was positive for COVID-19.
She was the 41st to died from COVID-19 in Region 2 and the eighth in Cagayan.
She was also among the 14 new cases of COVID-19 which were reported on Oct. 29.
There were 13 new cases tallied in Alcala, Tuao, and Lal-lo, as well as in Tuguegarao City.
Local and community transmission were still identified as the cause of the newest batch of infections.
Among the new cases was a three-day-old female infant from Dalaoig, Alcala who was having difficulty in breathing and is now at the CVMC.
