The local government of Valenzuela City has passed an ordinance imposing guidelines for the use of e-scooters in the city.
Under Ordinance No. 811 Series of 2020 or the 2020 E-Scooter Ordinance, wearing of helmets while riding on e-scooters are necessary.
The use of knee pads, wrist pads and elbow pads is also encouraged.
The measure also stated that only those 17 years old above are allowed to use e-scooters in public places, while those 16 years old below can still do so provided they are inside their compound or their property and with the guidance of their parents.
E-scooters are allowed to pass through all Valenzuela roads, except for MacArthur Highway. Violators of the ordinance will be meted a P500 fine or a 24-hour community service for every offense. (Joseph Pedrajas)
