CEBU CITY – A former overseas Filipino worker (OFW) was arrested Thursday morning after she yielded P6.9 million worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tisa here.
Jeanneth Gadiane Abayan, 33, was arrested again a year after she stepped out of jail.
Police Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla, deputy city director for operations of the Cebu City Police Office, said Abayan was arrested for illegal drugs in 2015 but was released last year after she was acquitted of the charges.
The woman previously worked as an OFW in the Middle East, police said.
According to Parilla, Abayan is a high-value individual whose source of her illegal supply is her husband, who is also detained at the Cebu City Jail.
“She was capable of selling one to two kilos of shabu a week. She really has a huge distribution,” said Parilla.
Parilla said at least a kilo of shabu was seized from the suspect.
Further investigation will be conducted to identify the couple’s cohorts in the illegal drug trade, Parilla said. (Calvin D. Cordova)
