Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto urged residents who have evacuated during the onslaught of typhoon “Ulysses” to voluntarily take the free coronavirus antibody testing of the local government.
With the ongoing threat of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Sotto underscored the importance of undertaking such test to avoid the possible transmission of the disease in the community.
“Sa mga nag-evacuation center, kusa na po tayong magpa-test. Malaking tulong po ito sa laban natin kontra COVID. Para sa kaligtasan po ito ng buong komunidad natin,” Sotto said Wednesday.
The local government has taken the initiative to conduct enhanced chemiluminescence immunoassay (ECLIA) testing to evacuees to ensure the safety of residents and prevent further spread of COVID-19.
Around 10,000 city residents, mostly from flood-prone areas in Pasig, have taken shelter in evacuation centers prepared by the local government.
“Since health protocols were difficult to maintain 100 percent of the time, we will test everyone who stayed in the evacuation centers,” the mayor said earlier. (Jhon Casinas)
