BACOLOD CITY – A couple died Wednesday when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a tricycle at Purok Timawa, Barangay Maao in Bago City, Negros Occidental.
Police identified the fatalities as Myrone Eslais and his live-in partner Debbie Joy Leganada, 28, both residents of Barangay Cubay, La Carlota City.
Chief Master Sgt. Celso Omega, deputy police chief of Bago City Police Station, said the accident happened when Eslais’s driven motorcycle reportedly overshoot to the opposite lane, colliding with Algara’s tricycle.
The couple did not wear their helmets.
Leganada died on the spot while Eslais was declared dead on arrival at a hospital due to head injuries, Omega said.
Those riding the tricycle identified by the police as John Algara, 25, and his parents Josefina, 54, and Roberto, 51, all residents of Barangay Atipuluan, Bago City, suffered injuries.
Omega said Algara sustained serious injuries and is now at the Intensive Care Unit of a private hospital here, while his mother is also confined in another private hospital here. Both are in stable condition.
Algara’s father was already discharged from a hospital.
All of them were on their way home when the accident occurred. (Glazyl Masculino)
