The national government has given at least P125.7 million worth of assistance to victims of typhoon “Ulysses” in eight regions across Luzon, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Sunday.
In a situational report, NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad said the bulk of the assistance – around P78 million – came from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Meanwhile, some P44.2 million worth of aid was distributed by local government units (LGUs), P2.8 million from private partners, and around P730,000 from non-government organizations (NGOs).
These were given to typhoon victims in Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Ilocos Region (Region 1), Cagayan Valley (Region 2), Central Luzon (Region 3), Calabarzon (Region-4A), Mimaropa (Region-4B), and Bicol Region (Region 5).
Jalad said a total of 932,467 families or 3,830,602 individuals were affected by typhoon Ulysses in 6,321 barangays.
Of these, at least 34,328 families or 139,866 individuals were still staying at evacuation centers.
The death toll remained at 73 while the number of the injured at 68. At least 19 people were reported missing, Jalad added.
The damage to infrastructure and agriculture have also increased to P8.7 billion and P4.2 billion, respectively. (Martin Sadongdong)
