Former Pagbilao Mayor Romeo Portes was seriously wounded when two motorcycle-riding men shot him twice Tuesday afternoon in Barangay Bukal, Pagbilao, Quezon.
The father of the incumbent Mayor Shieree Ann Portes-Palicpic was sitting in front of KGP building on Jose P. Rizal Street when he was shot in the face by a masked gunman clad in brown short pants and gray jacket.
According to the police report, the 73-year-old Portes was just relaxing at around 5 p.m. when the suspects arrived.
The one sitting at the back of the motorcycle, who was wearing a bull cap, then casually approached the former town executive before shooting him in the face to the shock of those around the vicinity of the building owned by the Portes family.
The suspects fired another shot as they fled on board a motorcycle, thinking that a man near Portes and a nurse would chase them as they headed to the national highway.
The former was rushed to the MMG General Hospital in Lucena City and later transferred to a hospital in Manila for surgery.
The second suspect – the driver of the motorcycle – was wearing denim pants and a black jacket based on what was seen in the CCTV footages now being held by Pagbilao Police.
Police have yet to determine the motives of the suspects. (Danny Estacio)
