After separate events held in Visayas and Mindanao, it’s now Luzon’s turn to hold its boxing restart via a four-card fight on Dec. 6 in Rizal, Laguna.
Quibors Boxing manager and promoter Gerry Balmes said Wednesday that they have already secured permission from the local government unit (LGU) officials to stage the event.
“We are ready, and we are excited to finally have this event,” said Balmes.
The boxing outfit is staging the restart of professional boxing in Luzon with the support of City Mayor Vener Munoz and Games and Amusements Board (GAB) Chairman Baham Mitra.
Four boxers of Quibors Stable will see action in the four-card fight event, which includes veteran campaigner Ar-Ar Andales, Jerome Baloro, Jericho Gatchalian and Reynold Vargas.
Andales will battle Sandre Paderan of Jab Straight Stable, Baloro clashes with Mark Jequinto of Berwela Stable, Gatchalian meets Jumari Mansueto of Onyok Stable and Vargas faces Michael Sarili of Muntinlupa City Stable.
Mitra said he appreciates the effort of Quibors to push through with the event after successful staging in Visayas and Mindanao by two other local promotions.
Last month, Omega Sports Promotions held an event in Mandaue, Cebu while Sanman Boxing Promotions had its own event in General Santos City early this month. Both events were held under stringent health protocols due to health crisis brought about by coronavirus pandemic.
