A man has been arrested by National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents after he and his wife allegedly swindled a woman of over P2.5 million which was supposedly meant as payment for a property in Metro Manila.
NBI Officer-In-Charge Director Eric Distor identified the arrested suspect as Woody Nuarin. Distor said Nuarin was arrested by NBI agents during an entrapment operation last Nov. 19 at a fast food joint in Quezon City.
Nuarin was presented for inquest before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for estafa in violation of Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC). Distor said the operation was conducted based on the complaint against Nuarin and his wife Antonette who had fooled their victim three times.
The victim recounted that she paid P2 million to the couple back in January last year for a condominium unit in Magnolia Place in Tandang Sora, Quezon City.
However, after several months, the couple told the victim that the owner of the unit was still abroad and could not sign the documents for the transfer of ownership.
The couple then offered another condominium unit with parking lot in Mezza II Residences in Manila and asked for an additional P263,000 which the victim agreed to.
“Unfortunately, after months have passed and demands were made for the delivery of the condominium unit or for the return of their payment with a total amount of P2.263 Million, the subject spouses failed to comply with their obligation,” the NBI said in a statement.
“The spouses again offered the offended party for the third time another condominium unit in Capital Towers-Federal Land located in E. Rodriguez, Quezon City and promised that after fifteen (15) days of payment of P300,000 complainant-buyer can move-in,” the NBI added.
This time, the complainant had decided to seek the help of the NBI for the arrest of the couple.
