JUST A THOUGHT: You have to do what you dream of doing even while you’re afraid. – Arianna Huffington
CHRISTMAS IN SUMMER: To lift his spirits when he’s feeling down and out, young singer Darren Espanto says he starts playing Christmas songs as early as summer.
In an online interview, the 19- year old “The Voice Kids” 2014 runner-up said that is especially true during this time of the pandemic when gloom seems to have taken over glee.
Little wonder that the Canadian-Filipino recording artist has opted to go Christmas-y in his new single release, “Believe in Christmas” (MCA Records).
He calls it an anthem of hope amidst brokenness and frailty.
“Believe in Christmas,” composed by Tiny Corpuz, hopes to spark a ray of hope in a world dimmed and darkened by negative acts and thoughts.
GOING TO COLLEGE: Stranded in Canada since the lockdown in March, Darren says he’s considering going back to school in his home city meanwhile.
He finished high school under the home school program of Homeschool of Asia Pacific in 2019.
He says he may have found a school that’s flexible enough to fit his timeline.
Darren says as much as possible, he’d like to go to college and maintain his singing career at the same time.
YOUNG ACHIEVER: Darren has, to his credit, double-platinum albums, over a hundred million streams of his songs on music streaming sites, and YouTube videos of his performances that have earned well over 250 million views.
He’s also the youngest cast member of “ASAP Natin ‘To.”
