A drug group leader and three of his members were arrested Wednesday morning in a police buy-bust operation in Urbiztondo, San Juan, La Union.
Police Regional Office 1 Regional (PRO1) director Police Brig. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. identified the suspects as Christian Casugay Rivera, 29; alleged leader of the notorious Rivera Drug Group; Harvey Munar Singson, 40; Medrick Arafiles dela Cruz, 21; and Michelle Leria Luken, 23.
Rivera’s group operates in Region 1, according to police report.
PRO1 operatives conducted the buy-bust and at the same time served a warrant of arrest against Rivera for a drug case.
During the operation, Singson fired his gun at the arresting team, prompting the cops to fire back. Fortunately, no one was wounded.
Azurin said the police team seized from the suspects a P1,000 bill used as marked money, two Uzi gun, a hand grenade, four .22-caliber pistols, two .45-caliber, a 9mm Taurus pistol, a caliber 375 replica revolver, assorted magazines and live ammunition, three handheld radio units, six cellphones, 21 plastic sachets containing 20 grams of shabu worth P136,000, a digital weighing scale, and drug paraphernalia.
