A certified dog lover, actress Kathryn Bernardo was elated to learn of San Miguel Corporation’s (SMC) recent effort to rescue several stray dogs in Bulacan.
“I’m proud of the San Miguel family for taking care of the dogs that were stranded in Bulacan,” said Bernardo in a statement.
“I’m happy that these dogs were rescued and, hopefully, will be adopted by loving homes. Thank you, San Miguel,” she added.
SMC initially sent the company’s own Nutrichunks brand of dog food to feed the estimated 70 dogs scattered around Barangay Taliptip, the future site of SMC’s Manila International Airport project.
With the help of the Animal Kingdom Foundation, 53 of the strays have been rescued since Nov. 16 and transferred to the AKF facility in Capas, Tarlac.
Around 20 dogs are set to be rescued in the coming days.
AKF and SMC vowed to find new homes for the abandoned dogs.
Prior, Bernardo thanked SMC, headed by its president and chief operating officer Ramon S. Ang, for helping create jobs and business opportunities in Central Luzon, including her home province Nueva Ecija, with the construction of the Manila International Airport and the Bulacan Airport City Freeport Zone.
Note SMC has been preparing residents for eventual employment in the airport through the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA).
