Fifteen crewmen were rescued Wednesday from a sunken ship off Cambari Island in Arceli, Palawan while two more crew members remain missing, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Thursday.
The ship crew were rescued at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday from the sunken LCT Lady Athena which was battered by strong winds and big waves in the area.
The vessel, according to the crewmen, capsized after taking the hits due to rough seas. Two more crew members – the master and the chief engineer – are yet to be located as of Thursday afternoon. The PCG said it suspended the search and rescue mission Thursday due to unfavorable weather conditions and will resume Friday, November 27.
According to Coast Guard, the rescued individuals were assisted by the PCG search and rescue (SAR) team aboard MV Titan.
All rescued individuals were later brought to Coast Guard Sub-Station in Araceli, Palawan. (Betheena United)
