A backpack with personal belongings of a missing University of the Philippines (UP) law professor were found along the seashore of Barangay Balikyas in Looc town, Occidental Mindoro, police said.
According to the report of Occidental Mindoro police director Col. Hordan Pacatiw, Ryan Oliva’s gray backpack containing various valuable items was found by one Jinny Histas around 6:00 a.m. last Friday.
“According to Histas, he was walking along the seashore and about to catch fish when he noticed the said bag a little bit covered by sand and garbage,” the police report said.
The professor, however, was not seen in the area.
The bag reportedly contained Oliva’s various identification cards, such as his non-professional driver’s license, as well as ATM and rewards cards, and an Android phone.
Oliva, who is also the chief of the Legislative Liaison Unit of the Department of Tourism, has gone missing since Saturday, November 21, according to his family.
“Any information about his whereabouts will be highly appreciated,” his brother, Randy, said.
