Two policemen rescued three children from drowning in a flooded area in Barangay Annafunan East, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan last Friday.
Police Lt. Col. Andree Abella, information officer of the Police Regional Office 2, said Police Corporals Edgar Pizarro and Rominick Andal were distributing relief packs for victims of typhoon “Ulysses” when they noticed the three children from a distance shouting for help while drowning.
Abella said they immediately jumped into the flooded area, putting their lives on the line, and successfully pulled the children to safety.
“Marahil napag-kasunduan ng tatlong menor de edad na mga bata ang maglangoy kaya naman nagtungo sila sa bahagi may baha at ilang sandali ay nanghingi ng saklolo nang nalulunod na,” a resident said.
Meanwhile, two police personnel of the Cagayan Valley police have been recognized for “displaying extraordinary acts” during rescue operations conducted in the aftermath of Ulysses.
