An all-amateur Gilas Pilipinas eyes a sweep of Thailand as the two teams clash again at 9 p.m. Monday in the final day of Window 2 of the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers in a bubble in Manama, Bahrain.
Gilas routed Thailand, 93-61, in their first game last Friday.
The Nationals had a slim 21-19 first quarter lead but had a 32-8 run for a 53-27 bulge in the second quarter capped by a three-point play from rookie forward Dwight Ramos.
The 6’4” Ramos led Gilas with 20 points and added seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Juan Gomes de Liano and Justin Baltazar added 12 points apiece.
Gilas improved to 2-0 in Group A and tied South Korea who opted to skip the bubble due to COVID-19.
Indonesia sports a 1-2 card after a 90-76 win against Thailand which remains winless at 0-3.
Gilas head coach Jong Uichico has yet to decide if he would change his 12-man lineup which FIBA allows for this particular qualifying tournament.
“We will decide on that after our team practice,” said Uichico who will submit his roster 24 hours prior to the game during the manager’s meeting last night.
