BACOLOD CITY – Soldiers belonging to the Army’s 62nd Infantry Battalion (IB) unearthed the remains of an alleged member of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Barangay Riverside, Isabela, Negros Occidental on Monday on a tip by a former rebel.
According to Lt. Col. Ryan Manongdo, head of the second Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company (Nocpmfc), the rebel surrenderee disclosed to the military the area where his comrade was buried two years ago.
Manongdo said the dead rebel’s skeletons will be subjected to DNA examination to confirm his identity.
Manongdo also said that they cannot tell yet if he was murdered or was just buried there for unknown reason.
“We don’t know the whole story about his death,” he added. Manongdo said they need more information to determine the cause of his death. (Glazyl Masculino)
