DAVAO CITY – The Task Force Davao seized Wednesday some P4.08 million worth of shabu from a 19-year-old man in a border checkpoint in Barangay Sirawan, Toril District here.
Task Force Davao commander Police Col. Consolito Yecla identified the suspect as Erl Cesar P. Camiso of Nabunturan, Davao de Oro.
Yecla said Camiso was on board a private vehicle traveling from Cotabato City to Davao de Oro and entered the checkpoint at around 4 p.m.
He said the suspect attempted to hurdle the checkpoint which prompted the security personnel to conduct a thorough inspection.
Authorities seized the five jumbo-sized and small heat-sealed sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 255 grams and valued at P4,080,000.
Yecla said Camiso was immediately turned over to the Toril Police Station and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
“I congratulate our troops for a job well done. We will not lower our guards despite our task to scan DQR, deny entry of non-essential travelers, and locally stranded individuals in support of Davao City’s Task Force COVID,” Yecla said.
He added that Task Force Davao has intercepted P14. 065-million worth of illegal drugs in checkpoints from 77 illegal drug suspects who attempted to sneak in prohibited drugs into the city.
