SAN JOSE CITY, Nueva Ecija – A suspected drug trader was killed while a policeman was wounded during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sto. Nino 1st, this city, at around 1:45 a.m. Sunday.
Lt. Col. Criselda de Guzman, city police chief, said investigators were establishing the identity of the suspect.
The wounded police was immediately rushed to Heart of Jesus Hospital.
Initial police report disclosed that the buy-bust operation was in progress when the suspect and his two cohorts on board a Honda City car (AAS 9301) sensed that they were dealing with the lawmen.
They drew their guns and fired at the operatives, ensuing a firefight.
One of the suspects was killed during the shootout while the two others managed to flee, police said.
Probers recovered from the crime scene a .38-caliber revolver, a .22-caliber pistol, a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, and the suspect’s car. (Ariel Avendaño)
