The Department of Health confirmed 1,387 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, pushing the country’s total to 444,164.
The DoH said there are 26,545 active cases, of which 85.2 percent are mild, 6.6 percent are asymptomatic, 5.2 percent are in critical condition, 2.7 percent are severe, and 0.31 percent are in moderate condition.
Batangas has the most number of new cases with 71, followed by Quezon City with 70, Davao del Norte with 64, Benguet with 59, and Quezon with 57.
There were 156 new recoveries and seven more fatalities, pushing the tally of recoveries and deaths to 408,942 and 8,677, respectively.
Health Secretary Francisco Duque III urged the public to continue to be vigilant as there is a possibility that the number of cases will increase during the holiday season.
“This is a warning to all of us that if we let our guards down you are going to really see what we’ve been saying all along – a surge in the number of cases,” said Duque.
“The DoH continues to monitor and to help local government units respond quickly to identify the clustering of cases and to institute our prevention, our early detection through aggressive testing and contact tracing, isolation, (and) quarantine,” he added.
