The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested a suspect in the killing of lawyer Joey Luis Wee in Cebu City last month, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said on Wednesday.
“I have been informed about it yesterday,” Guevarra told reporters about.
Citing reports from the NBI, the secretary said “a certain Peralta, has been tracked down and arrested in Laguna and taken into custody by the NBI.”
Guevarra said he will provide more details once he receives additional reports from the NBI.
Last month, the secretary issued a directive to the NBI to investigate the killing of Wee.
Wee was gunned down while walking to his office in Barangay Kasambagan in Cebu City last Nov. 23.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital but had died during treatment.
Wee is believed to be the 53rd lawyer killed under the administration of President Duterte. (Jeffrey Damicog)
