More than a month after super typhoon “Rolly” lashed the country, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported that almost 1,000 families or more than 3,800 individuals from eight affected regions remain in evacuation centers.
The DSWD Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) said as of 6 p.m. Wednesday, there are 989 families or 3,828 persons who are taking temporary shelter in 54 evacuation centers.
It reported that a total of 932 families or 4, 263 persons opted to stay with relatives and or friends in Bicol and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
According to the DSWD, the number of affected families by Rolly in 5, 895 barangays has reached 733, 965 or 2, 995, 355 persons.
The DSWD, local government units (LGUs), and non-government organizations have extended P102.56-million worth of assistance to the affected families.
According to the DROMIC, Rolly damaged around 314, 412 houses in the eight affected regions – National Capital Region (NCR), Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, and CAR – 61, 176 totally damaged and 253, 236 partially damaged.
DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao had earlier said the agency has provided P86.1 million in relief assistance to the families affected by Rolly.
She said the DSWD has already started providing Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA) to the typhoon victims in Bicol.
