LOS BAÑOS, Laguna – The reward money for the capture of the killers of Los Baños Mayor Caesar Perez has reached over P1 million.
Perez’s youngest son, Aldous, said on Saturday that the bounty awaits the person or persons who can provide details about the suspect responsible for the killing of his father.
“Umaabot na ito ng mahigit isang milyon at patuloy na lumalaki,” Aldous bared the current bounty.
However, he wants to assure that his family would only be entertaining the right information that could lead to the prosecution of the rightful suspect.
“Gusto namin ay ilalabas ang reward money kapag meron talagang masasampahan ng kaso at masesentensyahan tungkol dito. Yun ang gusto naming linawin,” Aldous said.
Meanwhile, Aldous said he was surprised at how the people have come forward to offer their money to help put up the reward.
“Nakakatuwa na ang mga magsasaka ay nagtulong-tulong. Pa-lima-limang piso o sampung piso para lang makalikom,” Aldous said.
Meanwhile, he said his family was awaiting the results of the investigations of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), although he bared that there were already some leads on what really happened on the fateful night of Dec. 3 when his father was killed.
In a related development, Aldous said he was still seeking clarification from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on why his father remains on its so-called “narcolist”.
“Hinihingi ko yung tulong ni Director (Wilkins) Villanueva at saka ni Director (Jigger) Montallana para malinawan kung paano nangyari ito,” the younger Perez said, adding that the citizens of this town remain firm on their belief that the slain mayor is innocent from any drug-related activity.
Montallana, PDEA director for Calabarzon, said Mayor Perez was still on the agency’s narcolist, but was now considered an “inactive” case following his death.
Montallana then clarified that even if Perez was tested negative in the mandatory drug test, he cannot be delisted since he may still be a protector of drug lords. (PNA)
