TACLOBAN CITY – A retired cop was gunned down in broad daylight in his house by three men last Saturday in Barangay Dongon, Maasin City.
Maasin City police chief Police Lt. Col. Mark Nalda identified the victim as retired Police Master Sgt. Dominico G. Petere, 48.
Petere was formerly assigned to the Police Regional Office 8 in Palo, Leyte until he retired from the service.
Witnesses told the police that the victim was doing house chores at their family compound when three men wearing bonnets arrived and shot the victim several times in different parts of his body, killing him on the spot.
The suspects boarded a waiting white Mitsubishi Adventure vehicle without a license plate and escaped in an unknown direction.
Police are conducting a thorough investigation of the motive of the killing and the identity of the suspects.
A flash alarm has been raised all over Southern Leyte by the police for the interception of the vehicle. (Marie Tonnete Marticio)
