JUST A THOUGHT: That every day should be a fiesta seemed to me a marvelous discovery. – Ernest Hemingway
DOG LOVER PALA: Little is known of Kathryn Bernardo as a dog lover. Did you know that the 2019 Box Office Queen (for “Hello, Love, Goodbye”) is a fur mommy to 11 dogs?
Surely, Kathryn would have loved playing Sarah Geronimo’s role in the movie, “Unforgettable,” which told the story of a dog’s devotion to its human.
Closer to home, why not a TV movie project based on Kathryn’s efforts to help rescue stray dogs in Bulakan, Bulacan, site of the ultra-modern international airport that San Miguel Corporation is erecting soon.
In the course of residents’ relocation, the stray dogs were stranded in the town. They were then taken in by SMC to a halfway house.
With the help of Animal Kingdom Foundation, a total of 53 dogs have been rescued since November 16 and transferred to the AKF facility in Capas, Tarlac.
Around 20 more dogs are set to be rescued in the coming days.
The dogs undergo spaying, neutering, and veterinary treatment before AKF and SMC will start finding new homes for them.
FOR THE LOVE OF: Kathryn is a brand ambassador of San Miguel’s own Nutrichunks brand of dog food as well as other SMC brands like Magnolia Ice Cream and San Mig Coffee Crema White.
SMC initially sent Nutrichunks dog food to feed the estimated 70 dogs scattered around Barangay Taliptip, future site of SMC’s Manila International Airport project.
Kathryn earlier thanked SMC, headed by its president and COO Ramon S. Ang, for helping create jobs and business opportunities in Central Luzon, including her home province, Nueva Ecija.
