An alleged police informant was shot dead Monday night by a motorcycle-riding gunman in Parañaque City. A bystander was also killed after being hit by a stray bullet during the incident.
Police identified the victims as Alexander Peña, 38; and Ma. Nimfa Jacinto, 42, both residents of Barangay Baclaran, Parañque City.
Peña died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds while Jacinto was declared dead on arrival at Pasay City General Hospital due to a bullet wound in the chest, police said.
Investigation showed that Peña was biking along Mactan St. corner Opena St. at about 8:30 p.m. when an unidentified man wearing a black t-shirt and black short suddenly stopped and alighted from his motorcycle.
Police said the suspect immediately pulled out a handgun and shot Peña several times in the head and body.
Jacinto, who was standing near Peña, was hit by a stray bullet in the right chest.
Police said the suspect hurriedly left on board his black motorcycle going to Opena St.
Witnesses told police that Peña was known as a police asset giving information on illegal drug activities around Baclaran area.
