Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso ordered Tuesday an investigation into alleged unauthorized coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) vaccination activities in Binondo.
Domagoso issued the order after some media outfits reported the supposed illegal vaccination in the city.
In a memorandum issued on Tuesday, Domagoso told Manila Health Department Head Arnold Pangan, Bureau of Permits and Licenses Office Director Levi Facundo, and Manila Police District Director Leo Francisco that they have 48 hours to submit their findings on the incident.
Although several vaccines against COVID-19 are being developed and are starting to be rolled out in other countries, not one has been approved for use in the Philippines yet.
“This unauthorized vaccination poses a great danger to the well-being and health of the people,” the Manila mayor’s memorandum read.
The local chief executive said charges may be filed against those responsible if the claims of an ongoing unauthorized vaccination drive are true. (Minka Tiangco)
