BUTUAN CITY – A 4.1-magnitude earthquake hit Davao Oriental Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the tremor was recorded at 5:44 a.m.
The epicenter was plotted 112 kilometers (kms) southeast of Gov. Generoso, Davao Oriental. The tremor had a depth of 24 kms, Phivolcs said.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and no aftershock alert was raised by the state agency.
The regional office of the Southern Mindanao Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and Davao Oriental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) reported no damage or injury.
A magnitude 4.1 earthquake was also registered at 4:51 a.m. yesterday and its epicenter was traced 15 kilometers southwest of Sarangani, Davao Occidental, with a depth of 12 kms, Phivolcs said.
According to the state agency, this is an aftershock of the Dec. 16 magnitude 6.2 earthquake that hit Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
No tsunami alert was raised by the state agency and the Davao Occidental PDRRMC reported no damage or injury.
