A father strangled his two children to death inside their house in Taguig City on Christmas Day, a day after his wife committed suicide by hanging, police said.
The Taguig City Police Station identified the suspect as Aiko Siancunco, 29, of Kamias St., North Signal, Taguig City. He surrendered to the Signal Village Police Sub-Station 6 after attempting to commit suicide.
The parricide happened at about 7:30 a.m. inside the family residence, police said.
Siancunco admitted to the police that he killed his kids Akira, 3, and Kion, 1.
According to Col. Celso Rodriguez, chief of Taguig City Police, the two children were already dead when found inside their room.
After killing his kids, Siancunco claimed that he also tried to end his life by drinking bleach and by hanging himself, but his attempt failed which prompted him to surrender to the police.
Probers learned that on Christmas Eve, Siancunco’s wife Katrina, 23, a call center agent, died when she hanged herself.
Col. Rodriguez said that the couple lost jobs due to COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, they were seen quarreling over their family situation.
Police said the suspect will be charged with parricide before the Taguig Prosecutor’s Office.
