Former San Beda stalwart and National Collegiate Athletic Association Most Valuable Player Sudan Daniel passed away Saturday from an apparent asthma attack while in Calatagan, Batangas. He was 33.
Frankie Lim, a former Red Lions mentor who recruited the American in 2009, confirmed to death of the 6’7” Daniel.
“It’s sad that it happened,” said Lim.
Daniel was a force to reckon with during his time with the Mendiola-based team. He powered the team to a historic 18-0 record and the NCAA title in 2010.
He was the regular season MVP and Finals MVP in the 86th Season of the NCAA.
Daniel found a home in the country, working initially as an executive with Titan before joining the Chooks-To-Go Pilipinas 3×3 as host of the tournaments in the past two years.
