Dear Doc Rica,

Me and my boyfriend want to start having sex. Usually we do oral sex and mutual masturbation. We are also in the same page in the stand to always use a condom when we start having sex already. We are both virgins kasi. Ang tanong ko lang ay kelan ba isinusuot ang condom? Kailangan ba ako ang magsuot nun sa kanya or s’ya ang mismong magsusuot? Sorry po kasi we are new to this. Thank you.

You don’t have to say sorry for trying to get information about condoms. It is a good thing to ask especially with this kind of dilemma. Since you guys are already having oral sex and mutual masturbation, if you feel you are ready, you can move to actual penetration. It is commendable that you both are trying to take precaution in doing this, also in asking for advice.

Either of you naman ay pwedeng magsuot ng condom sa iyong boyfriend. Depende lang sa preference. May guys na gustong sila na mismo ang nagsusuot nito at meron din namang they prefer their partner doing it because they find it sexy and enjoyable. While this pause may seem disruptive sa ibang tao, may potential din itong maging part ng foreplay ninyo before actual penetration. Talk about it or start experimenting on your first few tries.

About naman sa kung kelan, mas magandang isuot ito kapag erect na ang penis and more recommended when the penis is already erect and before any oral, vaginal or anal contact with your partner. Some people say na kailangan lang s’yang isuot before ejaculation pero hindi ito nagpro-protect completely sa mga sexually transmitted infection. Magkakaroon din ng risk of pregnancy due to pre-ejaculate na maaaring may sperm na kasama.

Ang pag-gamit ng condom nang tama at consistent ay makakatulong lagi to have adequate protection during sexual activities. Always enjoy and be safe!
