Barangay Ginebra San Miguel guard Scottie Thompson proved to PBA fans how much trust he has for his teammates even off the court.
Just like in basketball, Thompson needed Ginebra’s teamwork in one of the biggest live events of his life.
The 27-year-old Thompson asked the help of his friends in Ginebra, Mark Caguioa, LA Tenorio, Aljon Mariano, and Kevin Ferrer, a former teammate, for his proposal to long-time girlfriend on New Year.
Thompson had prepared a heartfelt message for Fajardo, which was narrated by selected friends and family members, including his friends from the PBA.
Even the respective partners of Caguioa, Tenorio, Mariano and Ferrer joined in the surprise video.
Before the clip ended, it was Thompson who closed out the proposal before Fajardo accepted it with a sweet yes.
“Sa ngayon, wala na akong hinahangad, love, kung ‘di gusto kong makasama kita habang buhay at hanggang sa pagtanda,” said Thompson.
“Love, let me be your protector. Let me be your knight in armor. Let me be the father of your kids. Let me be your husband. Give me your hands and marry me, please.”
Thompson and Fajardo have dated for eight long years before the Ginebra stalwart decided to unfold a new chapter of their lives, just months after bagging the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup title.
Now, that’s back-to-back “rings” for Thompson.
