Lawmakers were urged on Friday to withdraw the bounty they have offered for information or the capture of persons allegedly involved in the death of flight attendant Christine Dacera.
Lawyer Mike Santiago, the legal counsel of Clark Rapinan, Valentine Rosales, John Pascual Dela Serna III, and Rommel Galido, made the appeal to Senator Manny Pacquiao and Representative Eric Yap in behalf of his clients.
“We are appealing to Congressman Yap and to Senator Pacquiao to recall the bounty being offered because it affects the safety and security of this gentlemen,” Santiago said in an interview over ABS-CBN News Channel.
Clark Rapinan, one of respondents in the case, recalled that someone was taking videos of the vehicle he and his family were riding on when they left their home recently.
“Sobrang hirap po, sobrang nakakatakot and also sobrang hirap na nakita mo ang parents mong nahihirapan,” he said.
Pacquiao recently offered a P500,000 reward for the capture of the suspects in the death of the 23-year-old flight attendant.
Dacera was found dead in a hotel room bathtub in Makati City on New Year’s Day.
On the other hand, Yap offered a P100,000 reward to those who could provide information on the whereabouts of the suspects and have knowledge on the incident.
“There’s no need already for the bounty because there is already a case or a complaint with the prosecutors’ office of Makati,” Santiago said.
“Willing naman yung mga kliyente namin na harapin at sagutin yung reklamo na ito,” he added.
The Makati City Prosecutors’ Office on Wednesday ordered the release of the three suspects tagged in Dacera’s death, and referred the provisional rape and homicide case back to the police for further investigation. (Jhon Casinas)
