Thirdy Ravena on Thursday underwent surgery on his right finger which he injured last weekend while playing for San-En Neophoenix in the Japan B.League.
Ravena was in good spirits after posting a photo of him in a hospital bed following a surgery performed by Dr. Etsuhiro Nakao at the Chunichi Hospital in Nagoya, Japan.
“Happy to announce that my operation was a success! Thank you to the wonderful team of Dr. Nakao at Chunichi Hospital and my @neophoenix_official (San-En’s official Instagram account) family. Be back soon,” Ravena said on his Instagram account.
The 24-year-old got hurt in the third quarter of the Neophoenix’s 81-80 road loss to the Shibuya Sun Rockers last Saturday, forcing him to miss the succeeding game against the same team on the following day.
Diagnosed with a metacarpal oblique fracture, the injury also forced Ravena to miss this weekend’s B.League All-Star Game in Mito, Japan where he was supposed to suit up for the B.White team.
He was also supposed to take part in the Slam Dunk Contest as part of the All-Star festivities.
Ravena’s injury is a big blow for San-En, which is struggling with a 5-22 record. The Neophoenix have dropped their last five games.
