Actress Toni Gonzaga’s business venture with Winnie Wong, the perfume line Pouf!, is fast proving problematic.
Produced under TGWW Everyday Lifestyle Studio, a company
created by the two, the perfume line was actually selling well on
shopping platforms.
It turned out, however, Pouf! has no Certificate of Notification
from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Supposedly, Winnie, who uses the alias Penelope Pop as vlogger-
influencer, failed to apply for an FDA license.
Just recently, the FDA vowed to crackdown on products that are
being sold online without the required FDA licenses and
certification.
FDA Director General Eric Domingo said the agency received a complaint from the consumer group Action for Consumerism and Transparency in Nation Building (ACTION) regarding the same.
Among the sellers named in ACTION’s complaint is TGWW
Everyday Lifestyle Studio.
Domingo said those who sell cosmetic products without
government license and registration could be criminally charged
with violation of Republic Act 8711, or the FDA Act of 2009.
According to Section 12 of that law, violators could suffer the
penalty of imprisonment ranging from one year but not more
than 10 years or a fine of not less than P50,000 but not more
than P500,000.
According to reports, the Bureau of Immigration is now
investigating Winnie (She may be known as Penelope Pop,
Penelope Wong, or Winnie Wong but her real name is said to be
Yun-I Wang) who is a Taiwanese passport holder staying in the
Philippines using a special investor’s resident visa.
