GENERAL SANTOS CITY – An American married to a Filipina from this city was among those who reportedly succumbed to COVID-19, the local Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19 reported here Thursday.
The local task force said the 50-year-old American was a retired agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
He died of pneumonia related to COVID-19.
The victim was among the new three fatalities from COVID in the city, including a 68-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman, who also died of complications from pneumonia.
The city still has 96 active COVID-19 cases and has recorded 66 fatalities.
The Department of Health (DoH) in Socsargen also reported on Thursday 20 new COVID-19 positive cases, including four medical frontliners in the city.
Local authorities have undertaken stringent health protocols to prevent the spread of the virus, including the prohibition of cockfighting and merrymaking in connection with the annual celebration of the Feast of the Sto. Nino (Child Jesus) Friday.
