A junior associate of the law firm of Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea was appointed as new undersecretary of the Department of Justice (DoJ).
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said he learned Tuesday night Malacanang has approved the appointment of lawyer Jon Paulo Salvahan as DoJ undersecretary.
The secretary said Salvahan filled the seat of former DoJ spokesman and Undersecretary Markk Perete who resigned last Oct. 1.
In the meantime, Guevarra said he has yet to determine what duties will be assigned to Salvahan.
“We’ll review the distribution of areas of responsibility ASAP (as soon as possible),” Guevarra assured.
Salvahan has been a junior partner of Medialdea’s law firm Medialdea Bello and Suarez but, according to Guevarra, “has resigned in view of his appointment at DOJ.”
It is also the former law firm of Guevarra when it was known as Medialdea Ata Bello Guevarra and Suarez.
Salvahan graduated with a degree in political science at the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila in 2006 and then from the Ateneo de Manila University Law School in 2010.
Aside from Salvahan, Guevarra said Malacanang also approved the appointments of 24 prosecutors at the DoJ. (Jeffrey Damicog)
