President Duterte has approved the promotion of 10 senior military officials, two of them to two-star rank while the rest the newest in the list of generals in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Leading those who were promoted was Romeo Brawner, Jr. who is now a two-star general, or Major General. He used to be the chief information officer of the AFP and commandant of cadets of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA).
Brawner, a member of the PMA Class 1989, is currently the AFP Deputy Chief of Staff for Financial Management.
Also appointed to two-star rank was Brawner’s classmate in the PMA, now Maj. Gen. Efren Baluyot who is currently the head of the Armor Division.
On the other hand, those promoted to Brigadier General are Eric Nicanor, Domingo Gobway, George Banzon, Danilo Benavidez, Rosalio Pompa, Krishnamurti Mortela and Antonio Bautista, Jr.
Florante Gagua, meanwhile, was also appointed Commodore, a one star rank equivalent for the Philippine Navy. (Aaron Recuenco)
