A 32-year-old man allegedly suffering from mental illness killed his father by hitting him with a serving bowl during their dinner inside their house in Barangay San Pedro II, Alcala, Pangasinan, Saturday.
Police said the victim, Joselito Fabros, 67, a painter, died at the Urdaneta Emergency Hospital in Urdaneta City due to head injuries inflicted by his son, Jeffrey Fabros.
Probers learned that the father and son were having dinner inside their house at around 9:15 p.m. when they engaged in a heated argument.
At the peak of their altercation, Jeffrey repeatedly hit his father’s head with a serving bowl.
The victim’s mother, Elma, managed to pacify her son.
The family of the victim and their neighbors observed that the suspect has been suffering from depression, according to police.
The suspect was brought to the Alcala Police Station and will be transferred to a mental hospital, according to investigator Police Staff Master Sgt. Glenmore Prado. (Liezle Basa Inigo)
