BACOLOD CITY – Five centenarians received P100,000 cash gift each from the provincial government of Negros Occidental.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, along with Provincial Social Welfare and Development officer-in-charge Merle Garcia traveled to the cities of Bago, Kabankalan, and the town of Valladolid to personally meet the five centenarians, whom he recognized as inspiration of the society for surviving the test of time.
Lacson handed them a cash gift amounting to P100,000 and certificates of Centenarian Award each on Tuesday.
The recipients were Pilar Pacite, Florencia Santillan, Arsenio Pinasas, Sr., Telesforo Andres, and Cristituto Calog.
The local government aims to support the welfare and health of the centenarians, as well as of their families amid the threat of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Last year, 28 centenarians were also given the same cash gift. (Glazyl Masculino)
