BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) commended the bravery of two policemen who were wounded during an operation against a wanted person in Barangay Singcang-Airport here Thursday.
Police Patrolman Jhon Ray Ortega and Police Lt. Roque Gimeno III, both members of the Bacolod City Mobile Force Company (BCMFC), served an arrest warrant for murder against Limuel Talaman when Talaman reportedly pulled his improvised firearm locally known as “sulpak.”
Police Station 8 head Police Major Joery Puerto said Ortega tried to disarm Talaman, but he was shot by the suspect in the left arm.
Gimeno and Talaman grappled with the gun until the suspect was subdued by the other policemen, Puerto said.
Puerto said Ortega was confined in a hospital due to a bullet wound while Gimeno and Talaman sustained minor bruises during the commotion.
Police recovered from the suspect the improvised handgun with four live ammunition.
Puerto said Talaman, who is now under police custody, will be charged with attempted homicide and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
Police Col. Manuel Placido, Bacolod police director, lauded the members of the arresting team for the successful conduct of police operation. The BCPO also extended financial assistance to the wounded cops. (Glazyl Masculino)
